The gentle gauze-like texture is unique to the hand woven work by genuine craftsmanship. The beauty of the deep indigo blue color and the pure white of shibori is work of art. The fabric is high quality hand woven silk and matte texture. The intricate patterns are traditional Japanese patterns yet same time it has some Scandinavian mood. The botanical dyed textile is filled with authentic craftsmanship not found in modern fabrics. I think it is hard to find similar fabric in this good even for old kimonos. The gorgeous large pattern and the exquisite expression of the weave are unique to vintage kimonos. The pullover is boxy fit with slight short length in front and the back has length that covers hip line to coordinate with any bottoms. The skirt has an elastic waist and side pockets. The floating pleats were added to work the comfortable lines that gently follow the body with sharply structured, three-dimensional feel. The wool fabric is more comfortable to wear with an inner layer underneath. You can enjoy the top and bottom can be worn separately for a casual look, or as a set for a dressier look. Oshima tsumugi is one of the world's three most famous textiles along with Gobelins in France and Persian carpets in Iran. It is a traditional fabric of the Amami Islands in the southern part of Kagoshima Prefecture. The deep rich black color is dyed with the decoction of plants living in the Amami area and muddy soil containing iron, and the fine weaving by skilled craftsmen gives it a beautiful luster. In addition to its beauty, Oshima Tsumugi is supple, lightweight, and wrinkle-resistant, it can be with you during your travels. The front side of the pullover has a clean boat neck and shell buttons on the back, When worn backwards, the shell buttons adds a nice accent. Wearing with a scarf around the neck for a little more glamour. Since the set is finished with boxy silhouette, you can wear it relaxed. The skirt has an elastic waist and outside pockets.
